Love At First Sight

The minute I saw the tutorial for  this card I knew I had to make one like it.

This card isn't finished as I'm still pondering what I should add for embellishments and how I will place the little sentiment on the card front. I'm thinking I will put something like " Happy Everything"  embossed in black on a white small oval layered with a silver oval .

I need to practice using white embossing powder on a black background because I see little specks of white  where there should only be a clean black background.

I got a little carried away with this one but it''s my new favorite card.

I saw this on the Stampendous blog and you can view the link here.

OWH April Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest. Once again I'm using the free digital image from Hero Arts.

On the first Saturday of each month Operation Write Home features a challenge. For the first 25 cards entered  Our Daily Bread Designs will pay the shipping for one box of cards  to be sent to our soldiers and for 50 cards entered they will pay the shipping for 2 boxes of cards. For the entire month we can link up a card that we have made. A drawing is held and two of the entries win gift certificates to ODBD.
The challenge for April is Things That Fly.

A Few Of My Favorites

My next door neighbor is a card maker and also teaches classes on card making.  These are some of the cards from our last card making class.

My favorite is the Southwest card.

Spring Butterfly

I'm having so much fun using this technique. This time I used the brick embossing folder and the butterfly is from Hero Arts and is a free digital download.

Looks Like Spring

These cards make me think "Spring".

It's always fun to try a new card making technique or in this case two new techniques.

Using a mask and a cardboard diffuser I was able to print only the circle in the center of the card and emboss all of the card except the stamped circle.  The watering can is  one of the first  digital images that  I downloaded and used colored pencils to color.

A Cardmaking Disaster

Yesterday I worked on some birthday cards that I planned on including in my box of cards for Operation Write Home. Spent way too much time coloring the digital images. I must have used way too much glue when assembling the cards because they warped. They couldn't be used and I refuse to throw away a card that I have invested that much time on. Let this be a lesson to me...............never leave home without my ATG gun. It's still in Minnesota.

This morning while ironing my slacks I had a thought. If the heat and steam from my iron relaxes the wrinkles in my slacks why not iron the backside of the cards and while they are softened from the heat put something heavy on top of them and hopefully they will flatten out.

It worked.
