OWH Virtual Card Making Party continued

Challenge #3
I love Seongsook's tutorials and her Triple Die Cutting Tutorial  for today's challenge is great.
I didn't have the dies that she used to make her card so I did something very  different.
Instead of using designer paper, I used some of the scraps of embossed papers, an extra silver embossed sentiment that I had stamped and glitter  paper that were all  used for challenge #1.

I did cut all of the layers of  the silver glitter paper out of one 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of paper as Seongsook did in her tutorial.

Use sketch #29 to make a Love card:

This challenge instructs us on using a new technique of making a masking tape stamping block. Click on the link for this challenge to see Donna's tutorial. This technique was really fun and hope to experiment with it more after the card making party is completed.

This is the last card challenge for day one of the OWH Virtual Card Making Party.
Looking forward to day two.

This is my card for Challenge #1
Make a Christmas themed card following the sketch provided:

I
I used different embossed squares and glued them to a silver glitter paper (I tested it and the glitter doesn't come off). I stamped the sentiment  with Versa Mark and embossed it with silver.

CHALLENGE #2
For Challenge #2 we are to create a card using elements that represent the letters of OWH (Operation Write Home).

I made a very masculine card and  the elements I  used:
O is an oval for the center focal point
W is the wheat I stamped inside the oval
H is the handwriting I used as a background inside the oval

Trying To Get Something Done

I won a gift certificate to Our Daily Bread designs and because we've been invited to a few anniversary parties  this next month, I used my gift certificate to buy their "Anniversary Blessings" stamp set.

I love this set because it comes with separate stamps that have the anniversary years and can be added to the top of the cake. I did 25 year and 50 year cards.

I also made a few  plain anniversary cards.  I frosted the cakes with "Stickles crystal".

We Took A Little Trip

Our craft group took a trip  to Big Stone City, S. D. to see our good friend Sally. From there we drove to the little town of Twin Brooks, S. D. where  Sally had made  lunch reservations for us at the Bird Feeder Restaurant.

For starters we were each served our very own serving of Bird Seed (a variety of seeds such as soy nuts and sunflower seeds)  and Iced Raspberry Tea. Next we had Fresh Corn Chowder which was the best soup ever. Then we had our choice of sandwiches,  Chicken Salad  or Pulled Pork on home made bread with  tortilla chips (they make their own) and a special dip, fresh fruit, a salad made of fresh vegetables and pasta.

At this point they gave us all take out boxes so we could save part of our sandwich, they were just making sure that we would have enough room to eat the best part of the meal, DESSERT!

Now this group doesn't like to choose between desserts but we want to have them all so of course three ordered the Fresh Peach Pie and three ordered the Brownie with all the caramel and nuts and of course these come with Ice Cream. Then we divided our dessert in half and shared.

Oops, ate half of my pie before realizing I needed  to take a picture of it.

I did a google search for this restaurant and found this article  I'm only including this  so you can read about the history of the restaurant.

My Card For Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

This is the card I made for the August, ODBD Challenge over at Operation Write Home. The Challenge is to  use the colors brown, pink and green on a card. I also added a touch of gold.

Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors this monthly challenge for Operation Write Home. ODBD will pay the shipping costs of one box of cards to be sent to our deployed heroes if 25 cards are entered in the challenge and will pay the cost of two boxes of cards to be sent if 50 cards are entered.

My name was drawn for one of the $25.00 gift certificates given away by Our Daily Bread Designs for the month of July so I'm  going to spend some time shopping on their website. Thank you ODBD.

Back To The Old Routine

Well, I took a little break from card making. Read a couple of books, did some entertaining and now I'm ready to get back to the old routine.

The Mid Week Throwdown Challenge for Operation Write Home is to make a card using our punches and dies.

I used a Spellbinders heart die to both cut out the heart and as a stencil for the inking the blue inside heart.
Broken China Distress Ink for stamping.
I used my Stampin Up Bird punch and Martha Stewart border punch.
