A Card & A Challenge For A Friend

This picture doesn't show the pretty pattern and texture of the background paper on this card. I like this stamp so much that  I finally had to buy it because I've  borrowed it from my friend Evy too many times.

 MY CHALLENGE TO CINDY
Today I'm going to throw out a little  challenge to my good friend"Cindy", who blogs at Cindy's Stitches In Time

Cindy, I challenge you to design and make a "Birthday Bag & A Tag"

.As this is our first challenge I won't make any rules about materials used  or techniques. We will be getting together on September 16th so we will have our bag reveal at that time. We will both share our creations on our blogs on September 17th.

Love Butterflies

My card  today is a butterfly digital image that I think I got from Hero Arts a few years back. I've made cards using  blue, purple, yellow and orange butterflies but the orange is my favorite. The hello die is an old Sizzix die.

There was only enough of the polka dot paper to make two cards

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you have a great day.

OWH Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

This is the card that I made for this months OWH, Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge.

Theme is stars and today's card is inspired by the card that I made and shared  in this blog post.

For this card I used a card design from "Scrap Happens" and  was part of the August, 2013 OWH Labor Day Virtual Cardmaking Party.
I used red glitter paper for the base layer , the stars, and the sentiment die.
I used an assortment of embossed inchies glued to a blue base. The background is embossed with stars.
The thanks die is new and is from Paper Smooches.

Our Daily Bread Designs donates the postage for one box of cards to be sent to our military overseas  for each 25 cards that are entered in this challenge. They also, very  generously  give gift certificates to their stamp store  to two of  cards that are entered.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Operation Write Home Sketch #236

My card today is for the Operation Write Home Sketch  Challenge #236.

The sweet little bird is a stamp from  the Paper Smooches "Chubby Chums" stamp set. I paper pieced the little bird from the same yellow paper that was used on the rest of the card.

This summer it's been my personal, card making goal to make cards using only the leftover  papers from my scrap file. This also includes those designer paper pads that have been in my collection for a very long time. "No New Paper" is my rule.

There is a very good reason for this and I probably didn't mention that I got a gelli plate and I've been spending hours printing my own paper. I'll show you some of the cards made from that paper next week.

The papers used to make  these cards finished off an old 6x6 pad.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

My Card For The House Of Cards August Challenge

This is the first time I've entered the House Of Cards August Classic and Elegant Challenge. I thought the sketch looked very  interesting so here's the  card that I made.

I found it very difficult to photograph this  cream colored card. The 3 layers of the label just didn't show the way they should have.

Have a great day.

Words 2 Scrap By Challenge Entry

Today's card is my entry in the Words 2 Scrap By Challenge. This month the Challenge theme is "From Darkness To Light".

To make this card I used  a  Spellbinders Impressabilities "Flower Silhouette" like a stencil and sponged the colors from the lighter yellow, orange, pink and purple. The flower stamp  is part of a Stampin Up Stamp set named "Polka-Dot Pieces". I used a Spellbinders scalloped circle to cut out the flower and the orange layer. The sentiment stamp is from Paper Smooches and  was stamped with Black Versamark ink on Vellum.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. Have a great day.

Mojo Monday Sketch 357

Today I needed to make a card for a couple who will be celebrating an anniversary soon.

A couple of years ago my sister-in-law gave me these pretty papers and I've never used them so it's time I opened the pack and play with them.

For this card I made a miniature envelope using the new envelope punch board. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a script stamp and also colored the edges of the note. The green leaf die cuts were some  that I had cut for an earlier project. The little silver  butterfly charm is an embellishment from back in my crazy quilting days. The sentiment was cut with an Elizabeth Craft die out of some silver paper from my stash.

I decided to use the Mojo Monday Sketch #357 and enter this card in this weeks Mojo Monday card
competition.

Paper Smooches Stamps SPARKS Challenge Entry

I made this  card  for The Paper Smooches Stamps SPARKS  Challenge.

For this card I stamped the owl from the Paper Smooches  "Chubby Chums" stamp set. The sentiment and the branch  are free digital downloads from the Paper Smooches Blog.  I used a birch tree embossing folder and an oval die. The owl was colored with both colored pencils and markers and I used a  foam dot  to "pop" him out of the hole in the tree.

I'm so glad that you stopped by my blog today. Leave a comment and let me know how you like my colorful little Paper Smooches owl.
Thanks,
Kathy

On The Flip Side

I have a square flip card to show today. My pictures of these cards really don't show how cute they are.

I've had this stamp set for years but this is the first time I've ever used it . I colored the stamped image with colored pencils and used foam squares to "pop" the image.  The base  paper used is a leftover from my scraps. The green square is leftover from a Halloween pack of papers.

The sentiment is computer generated and is placed on the flip side of the "Lion".  There's lots of room on the inside of the card to write a note.

Hope some little guy enjoys receiving one of these cards.

I am entering this in  the "Send A Smile 4 Kids" Challenge.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope you have a great day.

Ladybug Love

This card is for the "A Day For Daisies" new challenge. We must use an  ADFD image and it must have a torn edge. Notice the red edge around the white circle is my torn edge.

Isn't she just the cutest little ladybug  digital image (from A Day For Daisies) you've ever seen?
I colored her with colored pencils and blended the colors with gamsol. I used Distress Inks and a dauber to apply the blue. Used Stickles Crystal on the wings.

I love making "Flip Cards" and this card is a variation of a circle flip card. The stamped sentiment is my new Hero Arts stamp and the ladybugs are a die that I have in my collection.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope you like my Ladybug card.

How About A Hug?

This digital image is Bailey Hug and he is available for purchase and download   from Hambo Stamps.

I love this "Bone and Paw' embossing folder which is made by Crafts Too. The little dog is colored with pencils and then blended with gamsol. The little heart on his collar is a punch.

I'm sending these cards  to an organization called Cards For Hospitalized Kids. Click on the link to visit their website. This statement from their blog describes what they do: Cards for Hospitalized Kids(CFHK) is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.

These cards with the blue trim cleaned out all of the blue papers from  my scraps.
