I've seen so many of these new "Pop-Up Cards" on Pinterest and have wanted to make one for months.
I followed the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers by Dina Kowal and the link to the tutorial is here
When making a new project I always make a sample first, using my not so favorite papers. That way I don't feel I've wasted any great designer papers on a project if it doesn't turn out.
I'm not sure I would use flowers that have so much dimension to them next time. Makes for a rather "fat" card.
Thanks for stopping by,
Kathy

Waiting For The Hatch
We're back in Minnesota!
"Cool" describes it pretty well.
Last year I did a post about the Killdeer family that was in our backyard. Click on the link to read it and see the pictures. Guess we made them feel right at home because they're back.
Our first day home we immediately went to the windows and opened all the blinds. As soon as we did the Killdeer started making all kinds of commotion. They were screeching and running all around the back yard.
Sure enough, they've made their nest in the rocks surrounding our patio.
They are sitting on four eggs! They do take turns sitting on the nest and they are a bit more comfortable with our presence but we are delaying putting any furniture on the patio until the big hatch is over.
I think this is perhaps the most pathetic" bird picture" that I've ever taken. Click on the picture to make it larger.
In just this one week, this poor mom has had to endure thunder, lightening, rain, wind, frost and the two of us cleaning out the flower beds!
Obviously she thought this was the perfect location to raise her young.

A New Mini Album
Our neighbors are moving away and we will be having a little going away party for them next week. Instead of making a card for them I made a mini album.
The cut outs on the front cover were cut out with my Cricut and the images were from the Southwest cartridge.
The inside pages are made of brown paper bags. I used scrapbook paper to cover all the surfaces. There are lots of little pockets with photo size mats in them and lots of spaces to write notes.
I did include photos that were taken when our neighbor hosted a going away party this year.
Hope they enjoy this little album as much as I enjoyed making it. Forgot how much fun they are to make and will be making more of them in the future.

Another Work Day With Friends
Today my friends Janet and Kathy G brought their card making supplies to my house and we "worked" all afternoon. They will both be returning to Minnesota and Wisconsin very soon so this will be our last work day until next January.
Today I finished a mini album that I'm giving to a friend who's moving away. I'll show pictures of that on my next blog post.
This is one of the cards that I finished today.
The birch tree die is from Impression Obsession. The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft. The square was cut using the Spellbinders square die.
The small pine tree stamps are from Stampin Up. Distress inks in Broken China and Sage were used.

Spring Flowers
Yesterday, I got together with two of my good friends, Janet & Judy. We planned a card making session so we could share dies, papers and any good card making info we've found on Pinterest and from card making classes.
It was a great day and could have only been better if I had remembered to bring my camera.
I made ten cards just like this one.
This is the first time I've had a chance to use the new Memory Box Poppy die and I love it.

Words 2 Scrap By Challenge For March
I'm so excited to show you today's card because I'm a Guest - I -Teamer for the "Words 2 Scrap By" March Challenge.
The challenge theme for the month of March is "The Oscars".
The movie quote that inspired my card is, "There's no place like home"
This is another variation of a Flip-Card.
The stamps used were all from an Operation Write Home set "Right At Home" from "Hero Arts".
The house and the kite were paper pieced.
The blue sky and green grass were sponged using a stencil and Distress Inks.
The sentiment stamp is from Stampabilities.
This picture shows how the card looks when you open it fully.
Just another view of the flip card.
I hope you will visit the "Words 2 Scrap By" Challenge Blog and view all the cards made by the I -Team Designers. Enter the challenge and check the W2SB Blog often to view all the entries. Good Luck!

It's A Love Card
I'm still experimenting with the "Flip Card" technique.
I used two different embossing folders and a Spellbinders "Vines Of Passion" heart die. Glitter paper was used for the lacey part of the heart and the base of the card. I think this card could be a wedding card or an anniversary card or even a Valentine's card.
I used the Hero Arts "Alphabet Upper Case" die set to cut out the LOVE sentiment for the inside of this card.
I'm entering this card in the "Love Is In The Air" Challenge at The Cards in Envy Challenge Blog. Click on the link and you can view the challenge entries on their blog.
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my blog. I appreciate your interest and your comments.
