One Of Those "Special" Birthday Cards

Our youngest grandson's birthday is in February.  As  Pinterest is always a treasure chest of ideas for special cards,  I spent some quality time searching for just the right one. It had to have a "music" theme.

Hope he likes this one:

The paper used for this card is from my stash.

The music background is a stamp from Stampabilities.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is an "Elizabeth Craft" die.

A friend of mine found these  dies and  let me borrow hers.  After cutting some of these out using my Cuttlebug  and then  using them on a few of my cards, I was sold.  I ordered a whole assortment of different sentiments.  She recommended using a micro-dot glue runner to apply the cut outs. I tried it and it works great.

I had to take a little break from my card making so I could get a book read. Our book study group will be discussing the book "Unbroken"  by Laura Hillenbrand at our meeting this weekend. It was a very good book!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today and I  hope you'll stop back again soon.

Good News

Did you notice that my blog has a new badge on the right sidebar? I received some really exciting news yesterday My  snowman card was chosen as  the winner of the 'Words 2 Scrap By Challenge".  Click on the blog name to go see the entries.

This was the very first challenge for  the W2SB challenge blog. The challenge was to  use words to inspire our creativity. This month our inspiration came from the words of the song "My Favorite Things" from  Rogers and Hammerstein's "The Sound Of Music"
The inspiration for my card came from the words of the song "Snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes".  Thanks to Bobbi and Sybrina at W2SB for selecting my card.

New Card For ADFD Challenge

This is the card I made for the most recent A Day For Daisies Challenge.  Click on the link to go to their blog and view all the entries in the challenge.

To play along with this challenge an image from ADFD must be used and also we must add a touch of yellow.

The image I used is a freebie from A Day For Daisies.

Once again I'm trying to make a variation of a flip card. I have a set of scalloped square dies and it took a few tries to make a  scalloped  rectangle out of a scalloped square. I colored the image with pencils and stamped the background with a Stampin Up flower stamp and Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.

Here is another view of the card:

Snowflakes

The snowman digital image from "A Day For Daisies" is so cute that I couldn't  make just one card. I colored about a half dozen more of this little guy and then worked on a few more cards with a snowman theme.

This card is a variation of the flip card. I don't have the special dies to cut the circle flip so I did some strategic cutting with the Spellbinders Circle Die.

When I used  the snowflake embossing folder  for the inside of the card I used a diffuser so the the center circle would not be embossed. I stamped it with a "Warm Thoughts" sentiment from Paper Smooches.

I'm entering this card in these challenges:
Words 2 Scrap By Challenge #1 "My Favorite Things"
This is a new Card Challenge Blog and we are to  use words to inspire our creativity. This month our inspiration comes in the form of the song "My Favorite Things" from  Rogers and Hammerstein's "The Sound Of Music"
The inspiration for my card came from the words of the song "Snowflakes that fall on my nose and eyelashes".

Cards In Envy
The current theme is "SNOW BUDDY LIKE YOU"
My card is A2 size. I colored the image with colored pencils and used baby oil to blend the colors.
Card stock is Stampin Up and Spellbinders Circle Die and a Snowflake embossing folder was used.

My First Challenge For 2014

Every year I make the same New Years Resolutions:
1.Take off some pounds
2. Exercise more
3. Get organized

Obviously these resolutions are broken by the end of the first week in January so I thought this year I would make some new ones. Something easier for me and my lifestyle.

  In 2014 I Hope To:

1. Read more books  & join a book study group
3. Make and donate cards to at least one more charitable organization
3. Enter more card making challenges

SO HERE GOES

Today I'm playing along with the challenge over on the " A Day For Daisies" blog. The theme for this challenge is "Anything Goes". I'm using a digital image from  the "A Day For Daisies" shop.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. Comments are always welcome.
